ORIGINS OF CAST IRON TEAPOTS

An oriental teapot inspired by ancient Japan, though its origins are Chinese. It has over five centuries of history; formerly used as a decorative element that conveys strength and robustness, although its functionality and use are only about one hundred years old.

It has a great capacity for retaining heat inside the teapot, better than traditional teapots. It is enameled on the inside to allow the circulation of iron ions and prevent rust.

Caution: Do not place the teapot directly on the heat! To prepare tea, place the leaves on the filter included with the teapot and pour boiling water over them. Applying direct heat to the teapot can negatively affect the tea preparation and may damage the finish of the Japanese teapot. The cast iron Japanese teapot should be cleaned by rinsing it with water; it is not advisable to wash it with soap and sponges/cloths.
